Flat paint and a few letters short!

Can I just say I hate flat paint!? It should be banned from the earth!! After spending hours painting the hutch..I gave in and used semi-gloss. Flat paint has no coverage. Sighh!

I popped to the thrift store to find a doily so I could make one of these:

They wanted 3.00 for something that should of been .75. I'll keep my eyes peeled and find something great and cheap later!

While thrifting I ran into these little babies!!

Look at the cute box!!

They are brass!
I thought they would be cute to make words and set around. Alas not all the letter are there and really only a few numbers. DUH! I should checked....but I was to excited to think.

For .50 I can think of something cute to do. Any ideas?
**While I am venting I want to add...Self tanner can make you look like a pumpkin!! Also never assume you hair dresser "knows what I mean". I think I didn't explain my self very well and I feel like a Fraggle!

I heart Google!

I worked on the hutch for a couple hours today! I thought I'd just paint the hardware white because it had been painted a million times and was thick w/ paint. On a whim I decided I'd strip it...I'd remembered reading somewhere in blog land about and easy way to do it...but then I'd quickly forgotten! A little google power and I learned...Boiling painted hardware in a pan on the stove and adding backing soda is the magic trick!!

I left a little paint because I like that look!! Happy Fall!!

Cheap Chic! Weekend Edition

I love this sweet little (tiny) thrift store in my tiny town! Things are CHEAP! That is FUN!

Look at this darling stained glass leaf 5 cents!

Raw wood bracelets (I bought all of them) .25. Love!!

I happened on some yard sales while in SLC I also popped into NPS! Yard Sale: Cute hat for my Mary Poppins Haloween costume! Mineral shimmer foundation .50 and a brown stamp pad...I have been needing one for awhile! .50! You see those eye drops? I go through eye drops like no other women and they are COSTLY!! a 2 pack 99 cents at NPS...I really should have bought more!

After a highly crappy day I needed a little something something to bring a smile back to my face! See what I found at the Centerville DI?? Rachel and she was only 1.00!!! I was so excited..I almost passed out!

We have a wood salvage yard in my fair city. They use the salvage to chop up and make mulch...there is some good stuff there but they don't like you "pick it". Rude! I went and asked VERY nicely if I could have some trim from the bottom of the pile...I honestly said "Pretty Please" to the burley construction man. I used it here:

Skate

As a child one of the elementary schools I attend was over 100 years old. Because of it's age it wasn't state of the art but it had some great perks!! One of them was a "Skate Closet". What magic there was in the skate closet in which there were rows and rows of skates. We'd get our size and then spend an hour skating in the gym. What a great memory!!

A few weeks ago I saw these babies sitting in "my" thrift store. These are "my" skates! From "my" skate closet. Just another thing deemed unsafe after years of childhood joy!!

Prim and Primed!!

She's all primed!! Ugah I ache from streach'n in weird ways!!

I am teaching a class tonight on "Thrift" two talks I am referencing from are: Thrift, Industry, and Self-Reliance and Happiness, Your Heritage. Check em out!! They will give you the thrifty creative burst you need!!

A few hours later!!

This baby was FILTHY!!! I spent hours cleaning her! And scraping away at sticky tar!! Remember her old home was a dirty garage!! I cleaned her the best that I could using TSP and then out came the primer!! Look how cute she is going to be!!

I was minding my own business!!

While running an errend I saw a sign that said FREE!! I love signs that say FREE!! We (my brother's GF and I) polked around the free pile and then saw a trailer that was laden w/ old cool stuff ready for the dump GASSSSP!! I marched right up to the door and asked if I could have a look see. The answer...yes!! I love when the answer is YES!!

I noticed this beauty polking out of the garage. BEAUTIFUL!! I asked if she would sell...she said yes! I made an offer of 20.00 she said YESSSS again!!

**Looks like someone cut off the top of this baby. What needs to be added to restore it?

Here are a few other things I brough home! Cami can you see the horse picture? Does Mason need it for his room? (Vintage horse paint by number!!)
